England Set To Eliminate Hepatitis C By 2025

England is set to eliminate hepatitis C by 2025. According to the National Health Service, the virus will be wiped out from its territories in just 3 years. Deaths have decreased drastically by 35% in the last 6 years in the country.

The First Country

England is set to become the first country in the entire world to eliminate the virus. England will complete the virus eradication by 2025, five years earlier than the global objective. The landmark achievement was possible due to a five-year agreement between Oxford charity and NHS, to purchase antiviral medications with a 95% cure rate for roughly £1 billion.

“Find And Treat”

The ‘Find And Treat’ program helped decrease hepatitis C cases in vulnerable communities. More than 70,000 people have been cured of the disease, according to official statistics. The number of people requesting liver transplants has also decreased by two-thirds in just six years.
