Iran Arrests Oscar-Winning Movie Actress

Iranian authorities have arrested the country’s famous actress of the Oscar-winning movie “The Salesman,” for posting in Favor of the protests. According to Iranian state media, Taraneh Alidoosti, a well-known Iranian actress, was detained on suspicion of spreading false information regarding the country’s ongoing state-wide protests. She was arrested a week after she expressed her solidarity with the ongoing protests.

The First Protest Execution

She posted expressing her anger over the first execution carried out by the Iranian regime. Iran executed a 38-year-old, Mohsen Shekari for supporting and participating in the country-wide demonstrations. In her post, she called upon international organizations to take action. Anyone who watches and doesn’t do anything “is a disgrace to humanity,” she posted a week ago. 

Celebrity Arrests

Since the start of the country-wide protests, Iranian authorities have arrested numerous celebrity personalities including actors, influencers, and influencers for supporting the protests. The arrest of Taraneh Alidoosti is the latest arrest in a series of celebrity arrests in the last 3 months.
