Griner was arrested in February for having a weed pen with her. Marijuana is illegal in Russia. Griner was in Russia to play for a basketball team there during the WNBA off-season.
Her arrested made her the most high-profile American jailed abroad.
On August 4th, she was sentenced to 9 years in a labor camp.
