Moscow has threatened Western countries that it’ll target its space satellites if they don’t stop supporting Ukraine. Moscow has been threatened with different means since its invasion of Ukraine, but this development is strange as Moscow may attempt to destroy Western satellites in space.
Legitimate Targets
The US alone has sent $17.6 billion worth of military aid to Ukraine since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Along with the US, European countries have also sent military equipment to strengthen Ukrainian military capabilities. According to Russia, this is enough evidence that makes it justified to target Western commercial satellites.
Western Dominance Through Space
The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned the Western use of satellites in helping Ukrainian forces that engage Russian soldiers, considering it “Western dominance through space”. Russia considers military and space assistance “an extremely dangerous trend” to support Moscow’s enemies, the statement mentioned.
