Chinese President Xi Jingping on Sunday, in a twice-in-a-decade party congress, held a 2 hour speech in which he declared science, technology and human capital the key building blocks for China. He reaffirmed the CCP’s commitment to “rejuvenate” Taiwan with mainland China, while building national autonomy in chip production.
The speech comes over increasing tensions in the Taiwan strait in recent years and a chip technology export restriction imposed by the Biden administration to thwart China’s military ambitions over Taiwan. Currently the Chinese economy is struggling with slower growth rates as the economy has suffered from a property market crackdown and zero-Covid policies.
