Iranian authorities are facing nationwide protests for 10 consecutive days in the country. The protests have so far resulted in the death of more than 40 people including Iranian security officials till now. Iran has accused the US and other European states of undermining Iran’s sovereignty by supporting the protests.
The Protests
It all started with the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish woman, Mahsa Amini who died in Iranian custody after being imprisoned for being unable to meet the country’s scarf guidelines. Amini’s death caused outrage and protests broke out in the entire country resulting in the deaths of more than 40 people now.
Iran Accuses The US and Some European Allies
Nasser Kanaani, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has accused the United States and some European allies of being behind all the protests in the country. “Washington is always trying to weaken Iran’s stability and security although it has been unsuccessful,” he said. The US has imposed sanctions on Iran’s morality police after the death of Mahsa Amini
