On Wednesday, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi meet with the Taiwanese President and the government officials as part of her Aisa tour. This marks the first time a US government official has visited Taiwan in over 25 years.
Despite China sending multiple warnings to the US not to visit Taiwan, the Biden administration supported Pelosi’s decision to visit.
Mrs. Pelosi stated the U.S. will not renege on its promise to Taiwan during her discussion with President Tsai Ing-wen, portraying her visit as a component of a more significant conflict for the future of democracy.
In response to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, China said on Friday that it was ceasing all communication with the United States on significant matters, including the important climate collaboration between the two countries that produced the historic 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.
China has also reacted with military drills off Taiwan, including shooting missiles that crashed down in nearby waters, tensions have been fast growing.
