Turkey's Erdogan Says He Tested Positive For COVID-19

ISTANBUL (AP) — Recep Tayyip Erdogan, The Turkish president tweeted Saturday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 was detected in my wife and me today with mild symptoms. It appears that we are experiencing a minor symptom, which was diagnosed as an omicron variant,” he wrote.

We are on duty and will continue to do our best at home. Please continue to pray for us.”

67-year-old Erdogan sent the message after he canceled his presence in person due to bad weather, and participating via video link at the tunnel-opening ceremony.

On televised appearance, Turkish President displayed no signs of illness.

A high number of deaths have also been reported in the country due to COVID-19, with 248 death recorded on Friday, the highest number since October.
