According to British analysis of more than a million cases of both types of Coronavirus in recent weeks, the risk of hospitalization from the Omicron variant of Coronavirus is about one-third that of the Delta variant.
A third dose of the vaccine between similar unvaccinated individuals and vaccinated individuals had an 81 percent reduction in hospitalization risk, according to data published by the UK Health Security Agency.
Susan Hopkins, Chief Medical Advisor at UKHSA says the new analysis confirms the encouraging signs seen previously.
In spite of this, “it is too early to draw any conclusions about hospital severity. The increased transmission potential of Omicron and the rise in cases of the disease among English seniors mean significant pressure is expected to be placed on the NHS in the coming weeks.”
