The State Duma, a lower house of the Russian parliament, approved for the first time a draft law requiring individuals to show proof of immunity to COVID-19 in order to enter certain public buildings.
For the bill to become effective, the upper chamber of parliament still needs to approve it and President Vladimir Putin must sign it.
Following strong public opposition to the proposal, a draft bill requiring the presentation of QR codes for those flying or taking trains by the Russian parliament was withdrawn earlier this week.
