Attacks Outside the Kabul Airport Killed 90 Afghans and 13 US Troops

On Thursday, two big explosions occurred outside the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. 13 US servicemen and 90 Afghans got killed and around 100 others got severely injured. The main intention behind the two blasts was to enter the American-controlled facility and demolish the US’s efforts for evacuation.

One explosion took place at the Abbey Gate, the main entrance to the Airport, and the other explosion happened at a nearby hotel named Baron. All individuals encountered a series of gunfire in the attack. Approximately 60 individuals had to be immediately taken to a nearby hospital. The Pentagon reported that 18 US service members got critically injured in the attack.

Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban’s spokesmen commented, “We strongly condemn this gruesome incident and will take every step to bring the culprits to justice.”

An Afghan interpreter reported, “I saw a baby girl and I looked at her and I picked her up, I took her to the hospital, but she died on my hands. What’s going on right now is heartbreaking. This whole country is falling apart.”

Late in the evening, Mr. Biden made a statement in the White House, “We will hunt you down and make you pay,” he and his national security advisers are together developing response plans to this attack. Mr. Biden seemed heartbroken by the attacks but promises to continue his evacuation efforts and strike back accordingly.

Bottom Line: Two major attacks outside the Kabul airport and a series of gun fires by the Islamic state gunmen caused multiple deaths and a bigger ratio of individuals dreadfully injured. President Biden confirms to strike back and not give up on his evacuation efforts.
