Jaden Smith plans to open the “I Love You” restaurant in Los Angeles to provide free vegan meals to homeless people.
Smith, the son of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, launched the “I Love You” food truck in 2019 to bring free plant-based meals to Los Angeles’ Skid Row’s homeless population before expanding to New York City.
The eat-for-free idea is now expanding into a permanent brick-and-mortar eatery, with full info on the venue and menu to be revealed. “I Love You Restaurant is a trend that is all about giving people what they deserve—free organic vegan food,” Smith said.
While everyone can order from the I Love You Restaurant, anyone who can afford to pay for their meals will be asked to ‘pay it forward,’ to provide a free meal to someone who cannot.
“It’s for homeless people to get free food. But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you,” Smith commented.
