6th grader detained after Idaho school shooting; 3 injured

A sixth-grade girl shot and injured two students and a janitor before being disarmed by a teacher.

On Thursday morning, a student pulled a handgun from her backpack and fired multiple rounds inside and outside Rigby Middle School in the small town of Rigby, Idaho, according to police.

According to health officials, both of the student victims were shot in the limbs and were in fair condition in the hospital, with one possibly requiring surgery.

The adult was treated and released after sustaining a bullet wound to an extremity.

Authorities said they were looking into the motive for the attack as well as where the girl obtained the gun.

Sheriff Anderson stated that the girl is from the nearby city of Idaho Falls. He didn’t say anything about her name or age.
