On Wednesday, Facebook held a meeting with its Oversight Board to decided if they want to continue to ban Donald Trump from their platform after the incident that took place in Washington D.C. on January 6th.
Facebook’s Oversight Board said the company was justified to ban hen-President Donald Trump after the riots and his behavior from that day.
That means that Facebook is not required to automatically restore Trump’s accounts on Facebook or Instagram. However, the board ruled that Facebook was in the wrong and that Facebook has six months to either restore Trump’s account, make his suspension permanent, or suspend him for a fixed amount of time.
Since learning of the Oversight Board’s decision, even those who wished to see Trump indefinitely barred questioned its validity.
