The whole world saw record numbers this week as COVID-19 cases were the most this week than any other week since the pandemic started.
More than 5.2 million new cases were recorded last week.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that COVID-19 outbreaks have been increasing at an unprecedented pace for eight weeks as the epidemic sweeps unabated through hotspots around the world.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, the deaths rose for the fifth week in a row with the pandemic now reportedly taking over 3 million lives.
And Tedros cautioned that the pandemic’s rate is quickening, even though some countries boast of their own expanded vaccine systems.
Doctors in several hotspots have also expressed concern over more young adults contracting Covid-19, like Brazil, where a recent version has sparked a catastrophic increase in hospitalizations and deaths.
