Recently there has been an increase in hate crime towards Asian Americans which has traumatized the community causing many to live in fear.
As Covid-19 first arrived in the US, former President Donald Trump and many members of his following and political party referred to the virus as the “China virus.” During the pandemic, hate crimes towards Asian Americans have gone up by 150% according to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino.
Just recently, a mass shooting targeting Asian Americans took place in Atlanta, GA leaving 8 dead. This shooting has left the Asian American community shaken and has caused many leaders amongst the community to stand up and raise awareness.
Many other videos and events have surfaced showing attacks and hate towards Asian Americans in recent months.
