On Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, did an interview with Oprah Winfrey that has had a mixed reaction from the Royals and the British people.
In the spring of 2020, Harry and Meghan stepped back from that royal life. The couple has relocated to Southern California and have a deal to work with Netflix and Spotify. Since then they have faced many scrutiny about their controversial decision.
The interview let viewers see a different side of the story and how the Royals acted or treated Meghan.
Meghan relieved that the royal lifestyle had pushed her mentally to the point where she was having suicidal thoughts during her pregnancy.
Meghan says the royal family declined to make her baby, Archie, a prince or offer him the protection that would come with that title and expressed concern about his skin color before he was born.
Harry explained how the Royals have a “contract” with the press where they give the press leads in favor of a good press.
They both say they did not blindside the family which was heavily reported last spring that they did. And they never really wanted to quit their roles but just wanted to step back.
With everything coming out in the light during this interview, it has left people with mixed feelings and reactions.
On “Good Morning Britain,” the co-host Piers Morgan accused Harry and Meghan of “spray-gunning his family on global television.” Dean Stotts, a former Special Forces soldier and a friend of Harry and Meghan’s, described the Royal Family as “very warm and open.”
The Royal Palace issued a statement on Tuesday saying “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”
They also added “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
