Universal Orlando Reinstates Mask Rule As COVID Cases Rise

Because of the recent emergence of COVID-19 cases caused by the omicron variant, Universal Orlando is reintroducing its mask requirements as of Christmas Eve.

There have been four times as many Coronavirus cases daily in Florida in the past week, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CDC reports a 12% increase in hospitalizations since last week.

All attractions, both indoors and outdoors, will require masks from the moment guests enter the line to the moment they leave, Universal Orlando said. This week, some rides at the resort reported waiting times of up to three hours, which is not uncommon during the holiday season.

Hotel guests and employees will be subject to the vaccination requirements regardless of their status, including restaurants, shops and public areas inside the hotel.

There has not been any announcement yet regarding Walt Disney World reinstating facial coverings.
