New York Reopens Times Square To Revelers On New Year Eve

New York is going to return to the pre-covid era of celebrating the new year by filling City’s Times Square once again with revelers ringing in the upcoming new year’s eve on Dec. 31.  On Tuesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that one will be allowed to take part in the assembly only if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The festival arena at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue, Times Square, extends from West 42nd to West 47th Streets the place is called “the Center of the Universe” by the revelers and the travelers.

Last year, a contagious covid pandemic held up the assembly of revelers allowing only a few invited guests including essential service workers to witness the dropping of the iconic New Year’s Eve ball in person.

Mayor de Blasio said, “We can finally get back together again,” encouraging the city’s recovery after a hard pandemic time for more than a year. He expressed his excitement as “It’s going to be amazing, going to be a joy for this city.”

There will be certain checkpoints surrounding the place to check documents where visitors who want to enter the Time Square festive area have to show their proof of vaccination and a photo ID.

President of the Times Square Alliance, Tom Harris said, “We will require spectators five and older who are eligible to be fully vaccinated. If you are unable to get vaccinated because of a disability, we will require proof of a negative PCR test within 72 hours.”

He also added, Masks will be required for those unable to get vaccinated.

Bottom Line: This year, New York is going to re-open the new year celebration assembly at Times Square only for revelers fully vaccinated or tested negative within 72 hours if were not vaccinated for unavoidable causes.
