Chen Qiushi, the Chinese lawyer, and self-styled citizen journalist reappeared on online platforms after his 600 days hide from February 2020 followed by his publication of rush videos showing the early scenario of Covid-19 in the city of Wuhan.
Chen lived in Wuhan, the epicenter of the viral pandemic for around a couple of weeks, and published videos portraying fear, anxiety, confusion during the start-up locked-down of the city of 11 million. His family and friends think that he was captured by State officials and quarantined forcibly without any illness.
He suddenly reappeared on one of his friend’s live videos on YouTube and Twitter saying, “Over the past year and eight months, I have experienced a lot of things. Some of it can be talked about, some of it can’t, I believe you understand.”
His raw videos had millions of views on WeChat which brought out real pictures of Wuhan when none had any information about the virus and its effects. Those video clips actually displayed the inner story of the disaster with interviews of suffered people, inside footages of the hospitals. He was disappeared after a video was published containing his question, “I’m not even scared of death. You think I’m scared of you, Communist Party?”
Neither Mr. Chen nor Police & Municipal authorities made any comment on his sudden disappearance and reappearance.
