What happens when robots start demanding rules to protect human workers? In Warsaw, they literally took to the streets.
Around 30 robots marched outside Poland’s digital affairs ministry on Monday.
They were waving flags, circling the streets and broadcasting slogans such as “Defend workplaces”, “Time for rules” and “Don’t wait, regulate”.
The protest was organised by Democratism, an initiative focused on how artificial intelligence and robotics could reshape employment.
One humanoid robot, Agibot A3, delivered the message itself.
It said: “The robots present here are meant to show that this technology is already a reality.”
And that is exactly the point, organiser Grzegorz Kulis said.
Workers Seek AI Protection
The campaign aims to highlight the risk of humans being replaced not only by humanoid machines but also by AI capable of performing cognitive work.
“If we don’t react now, we may soon have a problem,” Kulis warned, calling for regulations that could act as a “shield protecting workers”.
The robot protesters ranged from human-like machines to dog-shaped quadrupeds, attracting curious looks from passers-by.
Poland’s Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski also stopped to speak with Kulis.
The irony is hard to miss: robots marching for workplace protections before they potentially take those very jobs.
