Pakistan Launches Deadly Strikes In Afghanistan

Pakistan launches deadly strikes along Afghan border.

Pakistan launched airstrikes and deployed ground troops into Afghan border provinces on Sunday.

Triggering one of the deadliest flare-ups between the two neighbours in months.

While Islamabad says it targeted militant hideouts, Afghanistan’s Taliban government insists civilians paid the price.

According to Taliban officials, at least 100 people were killed or wounded, including civilians.

Pakistan, however, said its forces eliminated 29 militants in operations across Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar described the strikes as retaliation for recent terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

The escalation followed a suicide attack on a Sindh Rangers headquarters in Karachi that killed three paramilitary personnel.

Violence Raises Tensions

Pakistani officials said an Afghan national was arrested after the assault.

While Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility.

The two sides continue to trade accusations. Pakistan says Afghanistan shelters militants responsible for attacks on its territory.

The Taliban repeatedly denies the claim. Kabul, meanwhile, condemned Sunday’s operation as a “cowardly act” and a “crime and atrocity.”

A ceasefire agreed last October has effectively collapsed, with repeated border clashes and airstrikes keeping tensions alive.

For now, peace remains as fragile as the mountainous frontier separating the two neighbours.
