Eleven Killed In Eastern France Skydiving Plane Crash

A pilot and ten skydivers died after a light aircraft crashed in Tomblaine, eastern France, on Sunday.

A routine skydiving flight turned into a heartbreaking disaster in just moments.

Eleven people lost their lives after a plane carrying skydivers crashed shortly after takeoff in the eastern French town of Tomblaine.

It suddenly plunged almost vertically near a residential area and shopping centre.

Authorities say the outcome could have been even worse.

Prefect Yves Seguy described the crash as incredibly close to homes, adding that “it was lucky there were no additional victims.”

No one on the ground was injured despite the plane crashing in a built-up area.

Crash Under Investigation

The tragedy has deeply affected the local community. According to officials, several relatives were waiting at the airfield when the crash happened.

Thierry Pechey, head of the local Order of Independent Nurses, also revealed that five of the victims were nurses, making the loss even more devastating.

French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot called the incident a “terrible tragedy” as he traveled to the scene alongside Interior Minister Laurent Nunez.

Investigators will now work to determine what caused the aircraft to fall from the sky.
