Three Britons Admit Killing Canadian Restaurant Owner After Bill Dispute

Robert Evans Jr, 25, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Sharif Rahman, a 44-year-old father.

Following an altercation outside a restaurant in Owen Sound, Ontario, in August 2023.

His father, Robert Busby Evans, 49, and uncle, Barry Evans, 56, admitted to being accessories after the fact.

They have already been sentenced to time served.

The case stemmed from an argument over an unpaid restaurant bill reportedly worth about $150.

What happened next turned tragic. Rahman was found injured in the street and died in hospital a week later.

The three men, believed to be from Manchester, had left Canada shortly after the incident.

Extradition Case Concludes

More than a year later, they were arrested in Scotland and agreed to be extradited to face Canadian justice.

Legal experts often note that extradition cases can be lengthy and complex, making the family’s decision to consent to extradition particularly significant.

As one defence lawyer told the court, it was appropriate for the matter to be dealt with in Canada.
