UK comedian and actor Russell Brand is facing fresh legal troubles.
Just months after pleading not guilty to five charges of sexual offences, police have now added two more: rape and sexual assault.
“These new charges relate to two further women.
They come in addition to the April 2025 charges involving four women,” the Metropolitan Police said, bringing the total number of alleged victims to six.
The offences are said to have occurred between 1999 and 2005.
Brand, 50, who was once married to US singer Katy Perry, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20.
He will respond to the two new charges.
His trial on the original five counts is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on June 16.
Legal Spotlight Shift
So, what does this mean for the comedian’s career and public image?
Once a household name for his irreverent humour, Brand now finds himself under intense scrutiny as the legal process unfolds.
Experts note that high-profile cases like this often take years to resolve, and public opinion can shift dramatically in the meantime.

The Metropolitan Police stressed that the investigation is ongoing, signaling that authorities may still be uncovering further evidence.
As the case develops, the question lingers: can fame shield anyone from accountability?
One thing is clear—Brand’s spotlight has shifted, from comedy stages to the courtroom, and the world will be watching every step.
