Croc Wrangler On Trial For Instructing Friends To Burn Evidence

Famous croc wrangler urged friends to 'torch' evidence, trial hears.

Did Aussie TV personality Matt Wright try to cover his tracks after a fatal helicopter crash?

Prosecutors say yes. The famed crocodile wrangler—best known for Outback Wrangler and Wild Croc Territory—is now on trial.

He is allegedly trying to pervert the course of justice.

This follows a 2022 crash that killed his co-star Chris “Willow” Wilson and seriously injured pilot Sebastian Robinson.

Wright wasn’t in the chopper, but he was among the first on the scene.

Prosecutors claim he fiddled with the helicopter’s dashboard and misreported fuel levels.

They also claim he told someone to “just torch it”—referring to evidence authorities requested.

They also allege he pressured the injured pilot in hospital to shift flight hours to another aircraft.

Wright Faces Courtroom Battle

But Wright’s defence says that’s not how it went down.

They argue under-recording flight hours is common practice in the Northern Territory, and the original logs were handed over intact.

As for those incriminating home recordings? “Extremely poor quality,” says Wright’s lawyer.

He insists the pilot’s credibility—and that of his family—is questionable.

Wright, 43, is not just a reality TV star; he’s a tourism entrepreneur and national ambassador.

But for the next five weeks, all eyes will be on the courtroom—not the crocodiles.
