A skydiving adventure turned frightening on Sunday in Tullahoma, Tennessee, when a twin-engine plane carrying 20 people crashed shortly after takeoff.
Thankfully, no lives were lost, but several passengers were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The DeHaviland DH-6 Twin Otter went down around 12:30 pm local time at Tullahoma Regional Airport, just south of Nashville.
City spokesperson Lyle Russell reassured the public: “There were no casualties.”
Still, the scene was tense as emergency crews sprang into action.
Three injured passengers were airlifted by helicopter, while one, with more serious injuries, was transported by ambulance. Others received care on-site for minor wounds.
City spokesman Lyle Russell told the AFP that “no ground facilities or airport facilities were damaged and there were no injuries reported from the ground”.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Meanwhile, the Tennessee Highway Patrol helped local police manage the chaotic aftermath.
