Does Conor McGregor really speak for Ireland? Not according to Irish leaders.
The MMA star turned political commentator made waves when he met with President Donald Trump at the White House for St. Patrick’s Day.
During the meeting, he vowed to raise concerns about Ireland’s immigration policies.
But back home, his self-appointed role as Ireland’s spokesperson didn’t sit well with politicians.
“He doesn’t speak for Ireland.
He doesn’t speak for the people of Ireland,” declared Tánaiste Simon Harris.
McGregor An Insult To The Nation?
Others called the visit “deeply depressing” and an “insult” to the nation.
McGregor, accompanied by his family, heaped praise on Trump’s work ethic, calling it “inspiring.
”The president returned the compliment, labeling the fighter fantastic.”
But it wasn’t just politics dominating the headlines.

McGregor’s past legal troubles, including a civil case ruling against him for sexual assault, resurfaced amid the controversy.
His appearance alongside Elon Musk in the Oval Office only fueled further debate.
While Musk and Trump share a vision for a smaller federal government, McGregor’s role in that equation remains a mystery.
Ireland’s leaders, however, were crystal clear: McGregor’s voice is loud, but it’s not theirs.
