Hollywood’s biggest night had an unexpected aftershock.
Just as stars wrapped up their Oscars celebrations, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake rattled Los Angeles at 10:13 p.m. on March 2.
The tremor, centered near North Hollywood, Universal City, and Studio City, sent a brief jolt through the area.
Earthquake Wasn’t Strong Enough
While some residents felt the ground shake, it wasn’t strong enough to trigger emergency responses.
“We are not entering earthquake mode,” the L.A. Fire Department reassured on social media.
No injuries or damage were reported. Meanwhile, across town at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, Hollywood’s elite toasted the night’s big winners.
Anora dominated the evening, winning Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress for Mikey Madison.
Adrien Brody, Zoe Saldaña, and other A-listers also took home golden statues.

Earthquakes are nothing new to California, but they still keep locals on their toes.
Just three months ago, a powerful 7.0-magnitude quake in Northern California even triggered a tsunami warning—fortunately, with no destruction.
For now, the biggest shakeup in L.A. remains the battle for Best Dressed, but Mother Nature clearly wanted a piece of the spotlight.
