What makes an airline truly exceptional? If legroom is on your list, you’re not alone.
This year, Korean Air soared to the top, named Airline of the Year 2025 by AirlineRatings.com, dethroning last year’s winner, Qatar Airways.

The Reason
One of the biggest factors in its win? Comfort. While many airlines are squeezing in more seats, Korean Air refuses to compromise.
“Unlike competitors who cram an extra seat per row in economy, Korean Air keeps its original spacious configuration,” explains AirlineRatings.com CEO Sharon Petersen.
That means passengers enjoy more breathing room—something economy travelers rarely get. But it’s not just about legroom.
The airline’s historic merger with Asiana Airlines, the largest in Asian aviation history, also helped solidify its top spot.

Other Top Contenders
Air New Zealand took third place, while Cathay Pacific landed in fourth.
Every airline in the top 25 met strict criteria, ensuring passengers get quality service and a decent seat pitch.
Meanwhile, AirAsia claimed the title of Best Low-Cost Airline, and JetBlue led the brand-new Best Hybrid Airlines category.
