Trump Offers All Federal Employees 8 Months of Pay To Resign

In a bold move to shrink the federal workforce, President Donald Trump is offering buyout packages to nearly all federal employees.

Workers were informed via email to decide by February 6 if they’d opt for a “deferred resignation” program.

Those who agree to leave in September will receive around eight months’ pay as severance.

Move To Save $100 Billion

The administration anticipates about 10% of the federal workforce will take the deal, saving the government up to $100 billion, according to CBS News.

However, unions and lawmakers are raising alarms, calling it a chaotic and dangerous gamble.

Stephen Miller, Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy, emphasized the need to “get control of government”

Critics, like Senator Tim Kaine, accused Trump of overstepping his authority.

“Don’t be fooled by this guy,” Kaine warned, suggesting workers could be left unpaid.

The buyout isn’t the only controversial move.

Trump issued an executive order restricting gender-related treatments for minors and paused federal funding.
