Seven North Carolina deputies have been placed on administrative leave after the deadly shooting of Andrew Brown Jr.
A North Carolina sheriff will ask a court to release body camera footage of the police shooting.
Brown was killed as deputies were attempting to issue an arrest warrant on federal drug offenses. Deputies fired bullets at a sedan as it drove away from the scene.
Initial reports of the shooting in Elizabeth City and death of Andrew Brown, Jr. this week are tragic and extremely concerning. The body camera footage should be made public as quickly as possible and the SBI should investigate thoroughly to ensure accountability.

Brown’s death occurred just one day after a Minneapolis jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd last May.
