The newly-elect US President Donald Trump has selected Elon Musk to lead a newly formed government institution called the Department of Government Efficiency.
The department also known as the ‘Doge’ will not be a government agency as the name indicates and will operate external to the Federal government.
Trump also announced that former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy would lead the agency, along with Elon Musk.
What Job Doge Will Play?
The newly created institution’s top-most job will be to advise the White House on streamlining operations and improving efficiency.
Doge will collaborate with the Office of Management and Budget to tackle bureaucracy, reduce regulations, and make recommendations on cutting government waste.
Musk Pledges Transparency
Musk pledged to make all Doge actions transparent, even promising a “leaderboard” to highlight instances of inefficient government spending.
Neither Musk nor Ramaswamy will face the same disclosure requirements or ethical constraints as public officials because they will not be public officials.
