Pentagon Worried About Trump Issueing Illegal Orders

Pentagon officials are reportedly holding informal discussions to prepare for possible challenges if Donald Trump were to issue controversial orders.

According to Reuters, officials in the defense establishment are worried about Trump ordering deploying active-duty troops domestically or firing large numbers of apolitical staffers.

Trump Had A Turbulent Past

Trump’s first term included a rough relationship with senior military leaders, including retired Gen.

Mark Milley, who restricted Trump’s nuclear launch ability. Now, senior military officers are thinking of coming up with potential solutions to counter Trump’s attempts to disrupt the Constitution.

One key question raised is how the military would respond to an unlawful order from the president.

Officials are concerned that political appointees within the Department of Defense were unwilling to resist.

Austin Express Confidence

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin expressed confidence in the military’s commitment to do the right thing under the next administration.

Experts believe Trump will try to avoid the confrontational relationship this time.
