Gunshots were fired outside Donald Trump’s Florida golf club where he was playing.
The Federal Investigation Agency said the attack was another attempted assassination which led the Secret Service to respond immediately.
World leaders condemned the attack and urged full protection for the former President amid one of the most chaotic years in US election history.
Suspect in Custody
The FBI said they recovered an AK47-style firearm from where the suspect was hiding outside the club.
The suspect, who was later identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, was taken into custody after his car left the shooting scene.
The police raided his house in Florida after he exchanged brief fire with the Secret Service outside the golf club.
The federal authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attack, which is the second one on Donald Trump’s life months ago.
The New York Times confirmed that the Republican nominee was never in danger, and he is completely fine.
