A team of UK divers has discovered the wreckage of HMS Hawke, a Royal Navy warship that sunk in October 1914 in World War I.
The wreck was found in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland, and it appears to be in remarkably well-preserved condition.
First Lost Warship
HMS Hawke was one of the first Royal Navy vessels lost during World War I when it was struck by a German torpedo.
A total of 500 sailors lost their lives, according to military archives.
The ship sank in less than eight minutes and has since rested on the seabed.
Ship is Still Intact
Paul Downs, one of the divers who captured footage of the wreck, said the ship was still in pretty good shape.
Mr. Downs noted that the ship’s guns, armaments, decking, and even interior features were preserved given the ship’s age and the violent circumstances of its sinking.
