Mike Lynch, the prominent British tech entrepreneur and founder of Autonomy Corporation, is among those missing after a superyacht sank in Italy.
The yacht named Bayesian sank off the coast of Sicily during severe weather conditions, including a possible waterspout.
Rescue Efforts and Missing Persons
Lynch, 59, is believed to be one of four Britons still missing hours after the disaster. His wife, Angela Bacares, was rescued, along with 14 others, including a one-year-old child.
Unfortunately, one body has been recovered, but six others, including Lynch, remain missing. Among those missing are also two Americans and a Canadian.
Mike Lynch’s Legacy
Mike Lynch is a well-known figure in the UK tech industry, having co-founded Autonomy in the mid-90s, a software firm that became one of the UK’s tech success stories.
Lynch was honored with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2006 for his role on the science and technology council under former Prime Minister David Cameron.
