Due to the military coup going on in Myanmar currently, a lot of people from Myanmar are trapped in the US and not able to fly back to their homes.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced Friday that the US Government will make these people eligible for TPS for the next 18 months.
This means that roughly 1,600 people that are from or last resided in Myanmar will now be able to live and work in the US legally.
In other news, a United Nations human rights investigator said that security forces killed at least 70 people as of Thursday.
