Climate activists in Paris hurled soup at the famous painting of Mona Lisa but the painting was not harmed.
In a viral video on social media, two climate activists can be seen throwing soup towards Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece art.
The radical activists shouted “What’s the most important thing? Art, or the right to healthy and sustainable food?”.
Why The Activists Did That?
The climate activists hailing from an NGO wanted to express their frustration over an unsustainable system of farming.
Agriculture consumes 60% of the world’s water and emits roughly 12% of annual global GHG emission.
The activists represented a French non-government organization “Riposte Alimentaire”.
The organization said in a statement that the goal of the protest was to spread awareness about the “need to protect the environment and sources of food”.
The painting was attacked previously in May 2022 when an unknown individual threw a custard pie at it, but it remained unharmed.
