A suicide attack rocked the capital of Turkey this morning when two attackers attacked the government building. The attack took place in front of the interior ministry building ahead of the parliament opening session nearby. The police neutralized one of the attackers while the second one blew himself up.
A Terrorist Attack
The attack was immediately dubbed as a terrorist attack by the Turkish government officials. The Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said the terrorists arrived at the scene at about 9.30am local time. They parked their vehicle in front of the building and one of them blew himself up while the second one was killed by the police, Ali said.
Who is Behind The Attack?
While no group has claimed responsibility yet, the attack will be blamed on the Kudish terrorist group, the PKK. The separatist group has been responsible for carrying out dozens of such attacks in the country. The Turkish government has initiated an investigation to arrest those behind the attack.
