Donald Trump has been accused of mishandling hundreds of secret documents after he stepped down as the US president. The 37-count indictment said that the former president kept secret nuclear documents in a ballroom and a shower.
Trump Could Go To Prison
Donald Trump has also been charged under the Espionage Act for keeping files related to the country’s security and defense, carelessly at his Florida estate. Trump’s personal aide Walt Nauta has also been charged as he helped the ex-president hide the secret files from the FBI. Legal experts have suggested that Trump could face a prolonged prison time if he was convicted of all the criminal charges.
What Are The Classified Documents?
According to the prosecutors, Donald Trump took 300 classified documents to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida. The field contained sensitive information about US nuclear programs, military capabilities of the US and its allies and weaknesses of the US military and allies. Trump has been denying the accusation since day one and is saying that the charges against him are “politically motivated”.
