Tanzanian security forces have arrested a man known for something very unusual. The police arrested Thabo Bester who faked his own death in his prison cell to escape. Tanzania’s Police arrested him on Friday with two other suspects after a one-month manhunt. Police said the suspects were on their way to Kenya.
British Security Company Helped Bester
Last month, Bester was believed to have set himself on fire in his jail cell in Mangaung Correctional Centre in the city of Bloemfontein. After opening a new murder inquiry, it was revealed that the deceased was someone else, not Bester. The man, who Bester set on fire, had serious head injuries. Some employees of the British security company G4S, who runs the facility, were accused of helping Bester flee.
The Facebook Rapist
Bester was known as the “Facebook Rapist’ for using the application to find his victims. He killed and raped his girlfriend Nomfundo Tyhulu, for which he was found guilty including two other women in 2011.
