A report from WHO has found that one out of six people are unable to produce children around the world. The report also mentioned that there seems to be minimal variation in the rates across countries with high, middle, and low-income levels.
17% Of Adult Population Affected
The failure to reproduce and have children has affected 17% of the global adult population, showing a huge lack of access to reproductive care. Despite the availability of information, health organizations have not been able to reach those affected by infertility worldwide because of financial and social reasons.
Major Equity Issue
Poor financial situation of some countries was reported to be the main reason for such catastrophic statistics. Most of the people do not seek reproductive health because of the cost associated with the treatment, the WHO report mentioned. Such a gap between the people and health care system has revealed a “major equity issue”, the report said.
