People around the globe are showing solidarity with the people of Ukraine with a creative way to send them funds: by booking Airbnb that they never plan to check in.
In just past 7 days, people have booked well over 434,000 nights in Ukrainian cities via Airbnb.
In the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, Volodymyr Bondarenko, an Airbnb host, had 10 people book his room in just a single day. “This was surprising, it’s very supportive at the moment,” 36-year-old Bondarenko told CNN early Friday. “I told many of my relatives and friends that I plan to use this money to help our people who need it at this time.”
What Is Airbnb Doing To Help?
Airbnb’s CEO, Brian Chesky, told the press that the company is offering short-term housing for over 100,000 Ukrainian refugees who have fled the country. He mentioned that these housings are provided as needed around the neighboring countries of Ukraine.
