At least 27 people have been killed in two mass shootings in South Africa, as the country faces another deadly wave of gun violence.
In Wedela, west of Johannesburg, eight gunmen reportedly stormed a bar late Saturday, opening fire on customers outside before moving indoors.
Seventeen people, including four women, were killed and 15 others wounded.
Police said the attackers later set two vehicles alight and fled.
Authorities believe the shooting may have been linked to a deadly incident at the same tavern last month, although the motive remains under investigation.
“They want to make it something which we need to get used to, but that cannot be allowed and tolerated,” deputy provincial police commissioner Fred Kekana said.
Security Challenge Persists
Hours later, another shooting struck an entertainment venue outside Cape Town.
Ten people were killed and 11 wounded after gunmen opened fire on revellers.
No suspects had been arrested in either attack.
