A normal school day turned into a nightmare in Thailand on Friday when a student allegedly opened fire inside a school.
The attack left a teacher dead, four others injured, and ended when the student took his own life.
The shooting occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district, just north of Bangkok.
Police identified the suspected gunman as a student.
Authorities said the victims included one teacher who was killed, while another teacher and three students were wounded.
For many inside the school, the terrifying reality wasn’t immediately clear.
One 18-year-old student recalled, “I didn’t think it was a gun at first.
There were many shots: bang, bang, bang. Then it went quiet. Then it started again.”
School Shooting Shocks Thailand
Emergency crews rushed to the scene as frightened students evacuated the campus.
Photos showed ambulances outside the school while medics treated the injured.
The school serves around 3,100 students and employs 147 teachers, according to local authorities.
Police are continuing to investigate what led to the attack, though officials confirmed the suspected shooter died by suicide at the scene.
The tragedy comes just months after another deadly school shooting in southern Thailand, raising fresh concerns about school safety.
