How do priceless jewels vanish from a museum in the early hours of the morning?
French investigators are trying to answer exactly that after a daring burglary at the Lalique Museum left millions of euros’ worth of jewellery missing.
According to investigators, the intruder—or possibly several—broke into the museum in Wingen-sur-Moder around 5:30 a.m.
They headed straight for the jewellery gallery, suggesting the theft may have been carefully planned.
Around 20 pieces were stolen, with losses estimated at nearly €4 million.
An alarm was triggered during the break-in, but officials say the first person to arrive was a cleaning worker, who immediately alerted police.

Investigation Begins
Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage in hopes of identifying those responsible.
The museum, which celebrates the work of renowned Art Nouveau and Art Deco designer René Lalique, has closed temporarily while the investigation continues.
The theft also revives concerns over museum security in France.
It comes less than a year after a high-profile daylight jewellery robbery at the Louvre Museum raised questions about protecting valuable collections.
For now, the missing jewels remain a mystery. But one thing is clear.
When thieves know exactly what they’re after, even the brightest treasures can disappear before sunrise.
