Imagine stepping out of a plane at 15,000 feet, ready for an epic skydiving stunt — only for everything to go wrong in the blink of an eye.
That’s exactly what happened south of Cairns, Australia, and the footage released Thursday is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the handle snagged on the plane’s wing flap.
It yanked the jumper backward and slammed their legs against the aircraft.
Then came the truly heart-stopping moment.
Skydiving Accident Escapes
The bright orange reserve chute wrapped itself around the plane’s tail, leaving the skydiver dangling thousands of metres above the ground.
To make matters worse, they also knocked the camera operator—perched on the aircraft’s side—into an unexpected freefall.
The video shows the jumper briefly clutching their helmet, seemingly stunned.
Who wouldn’t be? But shock quickly gave way to survival instinct.
Using a hook knife, they cut themselves free from the tangled reserve chute and escaped the deadly snag.
Investigators didn’t release names or details.
But one thing is clear: this skydiver kept their cool in a situation most of us can’t even imagine. Talk about earning your wings the hard way.
