NBA Stars, Mafia Figures Arrested In Massive Gambling Crackdown

NBA stars and mafia among dozens arrested in illegal gambling crackdown.

An NBA player and coach have found themselves at the center of a jaw-dropping FBI sting that sounds more like a Hollywood script than real life.

Miami Heat’s Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups were both arrested in separate cases.

The arrests are tied to illegal sports betting and mafia-run poker games.

So what went down? Prosecutors say Rozier and several others faked injuries to sway bets—essentially gaming the system for huge profits.

In one case, Rozier allegedly told a friend he’d leave a game early.

He did—after just nine minutes—and those in on the plan pocketed tens of thousands.

NBA Scandal Deepens

“One of the most brazen sports corruption schemes since betting became legal,” prosecutors called it.

Meanwhile, Billups is accused in a separate case involving rigged poker nights with New York crime families.

Players used high-tech contact lenses, marked cards, and even X-ray tables to cheat victims out of millions.

“Everyone else at the table was in on the scam,” prosecutors said.

The NBA has suspended both men, stressing its “commitment to integrity.” As FBI Director Kash Patel put it, “Your luck has run out.”

Looks like for some in the league, the gamble didn’t pay off.
