Two Dead Amid Clashes In Morocco Protests

Two killed as violence flares in Morocco protests.

Tensions are boiling over in Morocco, where protests demanding better healthcare, education, and an end to corruption have spiraled.

The protests have turned into deadly clashes.

On Wednesday night, two people were killed after police opened fire on a group that tried to storm a station near Agadir.

Officials said officers acted in “legitimate self-defence” as the attackers attempted to seize weapons.

They returned with blades after being pushed back.

The unrest, led by a mysterious GenZ 212 collective that organizes through Discord, has gripped cities from Casablanca to Tangier.

The group claims to champion dignity, justice, and social reform, but the demonstrations have veered between peaceful rallies and bursts of violence.

The Unrest Deepens

In some places, hooded figures set police cars and even banks ablaze.

The government says over 400 people have been arrested and nearly 300 injured, including more than 260 police officers.

Prosecutors are already preparing trials for dozens accused of looting, vandalism, and clashing with authorities.

GenZ 212 insists it regrets the violence, framing itself as a civic space rather than a movement for chaos.

But the anger on Morocco’s streets—fueled by inequality, corruption, and fading trust in leadership—shows no sign of cooling.

The real question is: will the government’s crackdown silence this generation, or only sharpen its demands?
